Oakland, Alameda County
The Port of Oakland was established in 1927 and was among the first on the West Coast to handle container ships in the 1960s. Its tall cranes line the Oakland waterfront along the estuary. The port also runs the city airport and manages Jack London Square, where ferries leave for San Francisco.
